in addition to what I said above: when I try with firefox and this causes firefox to crash I get messages in .xsession-errors Here is the relvant part of .xsession-errors: (firefox-bin:2449): Gtk-CRITICAL **: _gtk_file_system_model_get_iter_for_file: assertion `G_IS_FILE (file)' failed **

No, I don't get any messages related to this problem in ~/.xsession- errors (I repeated the procedure described above and monitored the output in xsession-errors with: tail -f ~/.xsession-errors) Nevertheless I attached my xsession-errors file. Tell me if you need any additional information. **
