I haven't been able to reproduce either of these, are you still having
these issues recently? Are they easily reproducible? If so, would you
be able to try the branch I've attached to this bug and see if that
fixes them?

As it turns out I'm still getting those warnings (both types,
reproducible on two systems).
To reproduce:
1. ) Start a desktop session with the appmenu applet.
2. ) Remove the applet.
3. ) Start Nautilus and click through its menus (throws some critical warnings).
4. ) Restart Nautilus and click
FWIW, re-adding the applet stops the critical warnings but the Gdk
warnings keep getting thrown. When starting the desktop session without
the appmenu applet everything's fine.
