Strange, an event is occuring for the /dev/null device -- which should
result in the permissions being changed.
Could you run "udev

I have had the same problem, and would like to confirm.
A fix for this is to do
sudo chmod a+rw /lib/udev/devices/null
** Changed in: Ubuntu
Sourcepackagename: None => udev
Status: Unconfirmed => Confirmed
