Just did a fresh install of Ubuntu 11.10 on my Acer Travel Mate 6592G
laptop and I can confirm that the problem still exists. Without
blacklisting tpm_tis, the boot time is very long, and I get the same
errors in the kern.log file.

I just upgraded to Natty Alpha 2 using update-manager -d.
When rebooting after the install/upgrade, the grub menu flickering some
