being fixed with an upgrade to kernel 2.6.24-7. For future reference you
can manage the status of your own bugs by clicking on the current status

All of the commands above return successfully after the reboot (kernel
version is now 2.6.24-7). I can also cat and access all of the relevant
files. Note that powernowd *used* to work on the previous kernel, too
-- so I don't think the problem necessarily lies there.

Does it happen with the following command, but not for cpu0?
echo -n ondemand | sudo tee
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_governor
Does maybe leaving "-n" away make a difference?

which seems to be the actual culprit.

I'm seeing the same thing on a gutsy to hardy upgrade. It occurs when
powernowd tries to access
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/affected_cpus
If I try to cat that file it also freezes.
