Let me add some extra info on this for others searching the bug
database. Because we are now on 2.6.35 we have rudimentary power
management for ATI cards using the open source xorg ati driver. See
http://wiki.x.org/wiki/RadeonFeature at the end. I have changed the
profile from "default" to "low" an
OK, found the problem. I have an ati card in my laptop. If you don't
install the closed source driver, you do not have power management, so
the gpu is running full speed and get's hot, resulting in the fan
"problem". Too bad plymouth doesn't handle flglx too well, but I can
live with that. I change
I have just installed a fresh amd64 RC1. Guess what. It's solved. Bug
closed. Regression fixed.
