This didn't change in Natty (see screenshot).
On the whole, I am now less negative about the appearance of tabs than I
used to be. I'm not sure if that is just because I've got used to
them.

tabs in gnome-terminal are not aesthetically
I think two stanzas can improve g-t substantially:
- No white GTKNotebook frame around the terminal once second tab has been
opened
- No white tabs themselves, blends better between deco and content
- The freaking white resize grip triangle that stands out goes dark as well.
