I haven't tried to disable xgl/compiz. I don't know how to do it.
This problem happened with openoffice 2.0.2, from Ubuntu repositories, and with
the 2.0.3 from the openoffice.org website. I included the odf text that kills
my x server when I try to change the view mode to web format. It

Ok i had no problem opening it in OO.o 2.0.44c3 or abiword
2.4.5-0ubuntu2. Please try to disable xgl/compiz some sites you make a
startup script that lets you choose it from login screen. IF you join
#ubuntu-xgl on irc.freenode.net they can tell you. i will aska few
people when they sign on in
I disabled xgl/compiz and since then I have no problem with the x
server.

get a strace of OpenOffice when it crashes? What version of OO.o are you
using in dapper? Can you please provide a file that is crashing if there
