Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: 915resolution

To reproduce, install 6.06 on a Dell Latitude X1.

This little machine has Intel 915GM VGA. The LCD display resolution is
1280x768. A default installation of 6.06 (and 6.10 on live CD) gives an
X server resolution of 1024x768. The simple solution is to install
package 915resolution and ensure that it is started on boot. The
default configuration file (with resolution AUTO) gives the correct
result.

For an experienced user of GNU/Linux and Google, this is not a problem.
For an inexperienced user, it may result in an underperforming computer,
with poor display.

Can the installer detect the 915 chip during installation and add
915resolution to the installation cohort, to give a fully-functional
machine by default?
