Public bug reported:

To reproduce:

Install any Ubuntu on a Dell Inspiron 8600 with NVidia GeForce VGA
controller. Suspend (ACPI S3) then try to resume. Result, a generally
working computer with no display.

This problem has been known for years, as has the solution. The VGA
system needs to be subject to a POST after S3 resume to kick it back
into life. The original solution was a program called postvga that
could be scheduled for execuion on S3 resume. However SUSE 10.1 and
Fedora Core 5 manage this automatically. On both of these distros, S3
suspend/resume works fine.

This bug report is filed using a Dell Inspiron 8600 running SUSE 10.1.
It would be running Ubuntu 6.06 save for this bug.
