This might be fixed upstream in Evince 3.7.4:
* The zoom control has now an entry that always shows the current zoom
factor and allows to enter custom zoom factors in addition to the
predefined ones.

while zooming in also something unexpected happens. The dropdown box
stucks at 300% while at zoom level 400%. Only after clicking 400% twice
(!) the text is updated.
