Trying to join an XP machine to a new setup of samba on my Ubuntu host. Ubuntu is running on Lucid and I'm getting the same exact error message as listed above. It could likely be a configuration issue as this is my first stab at setting this up. I'm following these instructions:

I saw exactly the same symptom on my Karmic server during attempts to connect to the share from BackupPC. Failed on hourly attempts for 6 hours, then recovered and completed backups with no intervention. Samba reported: ... [2010/04/06 02:00:03, 0] smbd/service.c:929(make_connection_snum)
