Ok it seems to resolve the problems with xserver-xorg-video-intel
2:2.13.901-2ubuntu2~xup~maverick.
But note that with bleeding edge intel-driver from ppa:glasen/intel-driver
(2:2.14~glasen~maverick~ppa6),
there is still graphics problem with emacs : the cursor takes the shape of the
letters

refresh issues on my Kubuntu system (maverick on tablet PC EliteBook

(2:2.13.901+git20101105~glasen~maverick~ppa1) from these PPA

I also confirm this - the latest xserver-xorg-video-intel and libdrm2
packages from the Glasen PPA make Kwin's behaviour much more civilized.

Mobile 945GME Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03):
- compositing off on startup (can be enabled and starts normally if checks

I have similar issue with Intel GM965 integrated graphics.
Compositing is disabled after login. It is possible to activate compositing in
System Settings / Desktop Effects.
After logout I've got black screen.
From my Xorg.0.log:
[20.383] (II) VESA: driver for VESA chipsets: vesa
Upgrading to 4.5.2 via kubuntu-ppa these problems happen less
frequently, but are still not solved. (maverick 64bit. intel i915)
