I'm marking this invalid, because the problem does not exist if you use
the official Ubuntu package. Please install Qtiplot by using the Ubuntu
Software Center or Synaptic package manager.

Hi Gamaliel, it's a **much** better idea to install things in Ubuntu
using one of the ready-made Ubuntu packages unless you have a very good
reason to do things manually. All of the complicated installation work
is done for you!
