same to me, not in beta but in released. More less 20 minutes after
"Checking file systems... fsck 1.39" system is continuing booting
prosses, but it's too much.

may be the installation medium should make sure the user reboots instead
of taking other actions? maybe enable only "reboot" after an install?

I just reinstalled Edgy Beta and updated - and everything worked fine.
Maybe it was about hybernate when a reboot was recommended for the updates.
