Well, you are right. As a long time user of mythtv, I think the setup is
becoming more and more confusing, and naming of things are not lending
themselves for some intuitive approach.
With mythvideo I now learned than I had to press M and select a scan.
Than I had my videos.
Makes me wonder: why
That is incorrect. You always had to scan for changes, but you scanned
for changes in the video manager (which went away in 0.23, you now do it
directly in mythvideo).
If anything, thats a removed step that streamlines the process. Perhaps
there is an initial scan during SG setup that may be
Streamlining is good, but why then not scan automatically every time you
access the videos, avoiding confused users? Now that I know that I need
to do this, it is easy enough (but not streamlined).
The problem got worse for me when after long fiddling without a result I
looked into the log files
You mention the backend so you must be using storage group.
This can't be a regression that worked in 0.21, because storage groups
didn't exist until 0.22.
I just checked my system (mythvideo 1:0.24.0+fixes27204-0ubuntu0) and it
works, so it's not a regression at all.
