This one is very intrusive, I think we should get buy in from upstream
before committing to this change. Could we not just add Mic Boost to
the list of 'volume' elements?

Could we not just add Mic Boost to the list of 'volume' elements?
I'm not sure what you mean with list of volume elements, but if you're
talking about the PulseAudio paths, that's too high in the stack, as the
information is lost at the alsa-lib level.
