Bugs,
I did the update but the crash still occurs. i now figured out that it
happens either while booting or while the login happens. last time it
happened the clock on the top panel showed 9:26 pm when it appeared
after login but the crash file was from 9:25 pm.
is it maybe related to this bug?

Actually, I see that xorg-edgers has even newer than Q4 bits, along with
our new X stack.
Can you please reproduce your issue with this new stack? The PPA is available
at:
https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa
Here's a simple way to install:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xorg-edgers/p
It can't hurt.
Word from Intel is they don't want to look at the bug until it's been
confirmed against their Q4 release. So we may have to just backburner
this bug for a while until we get a chance to package the Q4 bits
(unless you'd like to try building and running them manually).

Hi Andree, can you tell me more about this second time it happened? Did
apport pop up to report the bug? (If it does in the future, please do
file it again; sometimes the extra logs for comparison can help isolate
the issue). What were you doing leading up to the lockup?
We're going to be movin
haha, Murphy's law!!! Now it happend again.

Andree, hmm... well sometimes these types of bugs just take a short
holiday. Let's give it a few more days to see if it comes back. If
not, we can close out the bug for tracking purposes, and you can reopen
if it does come back.

Thanks. The "all of a sudden it works" might be the kernel managing to
unlock the gpu, but if so it's curious it only happens after a couple
minutes.

this crash happens quite often (shortly after i login) with and without
apport popping up. sometimes the mouse clicks aren't recognized for a
couple of minutes and then all of a sudden it works again but i can't
tell what brings the mouse click recognition back.
