I discovered this in the kernel messages: NTFS-fs error (device sda1): parse_options(): Unrecognized mount option locale. It seems that Dolphin (or HAL? I don't know how it works anymore, it keeps changing) is sending the "locale=en_US.UTF-8" option to the mount command, which is incorrect, and
