thank you for your bug report but the applet is in a private directory
out of the path and not meant to be ran by users on the command line or
to be documented as a command
** Changed in: gnome-panel (Ubuntu)

Thank you for the explanation of the real name and purpose. I accept
that it is not intended top be run by users, but that does not
invalidate my issue about it being undocumented. There are many reasonsd
everything should be documented, not least of which is troubleshooting!
** Changed in:
the applets are documented in the GNOME documentation and meant to be
added using the add to panel gnome-panel dialog, you don't have
documentation about every single file or library on the system
explaining why they are there
** Changed in: gnome-panel (Ubuntu)

Actually, you do. That's what sections 4 and 8 are for.

no, manpages are for commands, the applet is not one, it will be turned
back to a .so which is loaded by gnome-panel later on

Wrong. Lots of man pages are for things used by commands, files and
such. Since you insist, the categories for man pages are:
1. General Commands
2. System Calls
3. Subroutines
4. Special Files
5. File Formats
6. Games
7. Macros and Conventions
8. Maintenence Commands
