From what I understand:
The garbage collector for expired routes is called every 30 seconds. So
an expired route may take up to 30 seconds to be cleaned up.
The interval is configurable in sysctl:
/proc/sys/net/ipv6/route/gc_interval
Setting this value to 1 makes the route go away much faster.
[Expired for linux (Ubuntu) because there has been no activity for 60
days.]
