Hello,
with Kubuntu Feisty and hand-installed Thunderbird 2.0.0.6 I also
experience this problem. When will the 2.0 version distributed as part
of Feisty?
I will try out the "-safe-mode". I wonder what this flag does -- please,
could you explain it?

The bug didn't reproduce in usual usage for a long time now (using
1.5.0.12-0ubuntu0.7.04). The plugins that i had ,and still have now, are
moztraybiff (http://moztraybiff.mozdev.org/) and the packaged 'English
(GB) Language Pack.'

do you have any extensions installed? If so, please try if running tbird
in safe-mode makes this problem disappear:

Thunderbird constantly stales, usually when i have lots of new mail
messages in the mailbox that weren't fetched, although i couldn't say
that is the same bug since i usually run Thunderbird binary from gui and
not from the console and cannot see if the problem is identical.
