Fresh install with MintLinux (Ubuntu derivitive).
Everything works well with xawtv, but motv won't start because it can't find
fonts apparently.

I have the same problem, which I replicated on a fresh install of Edgy.
mtt, from the same package, runs and will open a window, but does not
display the menus.

Running xset fp rehash before motv and mtt allows them to run with the
menus showing, until the next restart of the X server.

I just replicated this bug, running Edgy on PowerPC. Xawtv works fine,
but Motv can't seem to create/find the fonts it needs.
