Same thing as reported here: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33915 In my case, not only user settings are overwritten and lost, but there is also an additional effect: LibreOffice disables the visual styles (Galaxy, Crystal, etc.), all but the default, Tango... This is happening in both Ubuntu (10.04) and Xubuntu (10.04), different PC's...
