Can you check and see which drivers are actually in use? You may have
some weird library mismatches from the failed fglrx install. Are you
seeing weirdness with compiz in a gnome 2 session?

Oh my bad it may be just the fact im using the unity daily so ill report
back when I get the next update if its still happening.
