I had a similar problem with my iPod on Feisty. According to [1] this
is a bug in udev, but luckily there is a quick workaround while waiting
for the real fix.

I forgot to mention that one of the two partitions is encrypted with
cryptsetup (/dev/sdb2). This disk worked on Dapper and Edgy on the same
computer.

to get the other logs (gnome-volume-manager and /dev/, in particular).
Also, please do not put log files in a tar file, just compress them
