This is locale related problem. The following workaround should help:
LC_ALL=C osmo
The other option is to add the en_IN translation to Osmo :)

now i am working on natty..
I renamed .osmo in my home folder to .osmo.backup
started osmo again from terminal...it again crashed with the following output:
achiever@achiever-Compaq-Presario-CQ40-Notebook-PC:~$ osmo
(osmo:11032): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to set text from markup due to
error parsin
Could you try starting osmo with an empty profile (i.e. temporarily copy
~/.osmo to ~/.osmo.backup) and see if the crash still occurs?
