Edgaras Apsega, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? As
per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/PowerManagementASPM a patch has been

Hi, rather than just add a "me too", I thought I'd tell you what I've
found with this same bug and a (kind-of) workaround. Perhaps it'll help
someone far smarter than myself solve this bug.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/756472 says that
the Linux kernel since 2.6.37 has no /proc/acpi/thermal_zone, and
instead it's now moved into sys:
# cat /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp

That is consistent with what sensors shows (+73.0 degreed Centigrade).

I use it a lot to set frequencies and verify it this way. And when the machine
gets hot, I can quickly see if the CPUs were throttled.

I have also met this bug.
I have installed kubuntu 11.04 and found my cpu fan always running. It
is always running at the same speed.
I tried to make my cpu 100% running, and my cpu temperature goes to 85C
but the cpu fan is still running at that speed. It seems that the cpu
fan runs at the speed
Actually I've fixed mine by installing ATI proprietary FGLRX Additional
Driver

Thanks for the link, but the problem is that in /proc/acpi directory
there isn't folder named thermal_zone, so I can't run this command "cd
/proc/acpi/thermal_zone && watch grep temperature */*".
Btw switching to proprietary ati drivers it kept a little bit quiet.
