debug banshee, by the way, seems like your local repository is suffer
some issues so I recommend you to use another near mirror and then try
again.

Hi, sorry for late answer, wasn't home.
The problem persists, there is no suggestion box when I plug the
player in and when I plug it in with banshee running it start's trying
to connect to the player but nothing happens (see attached pic).
please let me know if there's anything I can do.

here come the files, had to install gvfs-bin and while that was
running I got this error msg:
Setting up gvfs-bin (1.8.0-0ubuntu2) ...
Errors were encountered while processing:
apport
apport-gtk
I also got this when updating the system
Setting up apport (1.20.1-0ubuntu4) ...
start: Job
Seems like you are facing an issue with a previous upgrade (probably
related to apport package) so probably broke something in your system.
Please could you try to run a sudo apt-get update apt-get upgrade
and check if that solve your problem.
