this macintrash unity thing which -- breaks full screen apps -- places menus away from the applications they serve -- removes user-controlled applets (I want to replace the mail/chat junk with the system monitor and I cannot) is a sufficient reason for me to move away from ubuntu back to fedora.

Sorry to disagree a bit... while Unity looks like a regression (and it does... a lot) I simply hate it Lets put it this way: My mom will NEVER use it (Launcher, Indicator without map, weather, Panel, 7 clicks with the mouse for anything usefull, No desktop access, No workspaces adjust.)
