Indeed it should do that, however this issue is related to nautilus
association formats so there is nothing we can do here. Please fill a
new report against nautilus package explaining same effects and
behaviour that you are expecting. Thank you

obrowny, Please could you check in nautilus your file association? you
should go to your favority mp3 file, then click on properties and
finally check the tab Open with, noticed if banshee or totem is marked
as default media player.

Yes you are right, every file is set to start with totem in nautilus and not
with Banshee. This is a bit strange as it is supposed to be Banshee by default
in the preference menu.
