I'm not sure, but some update recently may have fixed it. It hasn't happened
again accidentally, but I'll try to do it on purpose.
One other thing that may help, for me it only occurred after I had run killall5
in tty6 after a compiz crash.
killall5 logged out my session by killing gdm, then gdm
I can't reproduce this, Could you please follow the instructions on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Unity/FilingBugs#Getting%20a%20stack%20trace and
attach unity.log to this bug report?

I can confirm this, when Firefox is restoring a session Compiz often
hangs, and sometimes my entire session ends suddenly (or in other words,
I am logged out suddenly and without notice)
