Guidance displayconfig is being replaced by a different KDE4 application
in Kubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid), so no further displayconfig changes are
currently being considered, even if this was still a bug.

Is this still an issue with hardy? I believe all of this was taken care
of in Guidance during either the Gutsy, or most definitely the Hardy,
development cycles. Thanks!

There is a definite difference in the device and monitor section. My
best guess is that this is a bug in gnome-power-manager. However, it
might help the GNOME developers to submit a bug on their bug tracker at:
(http://bugzilla.gnome.org/). Also, there are a couple of models of the
ATI rage. See:

I believe that the video card is detected correctly as "ATI
Technologies, Inc. 3D Rage Pro". I'm attaching the "good" xorg.conf file
to this message. I will submit the one more message with the GUI updated
xorg.conf (after I disable power management).

Thanks for the report. Which kind of graphics card do you have? Can you
also attach your xorg file? This is important to make sure there is not
a mis-configured xorg.conf file.
