Guidance displayconfig is being replaced by a different KDE4 application in Kubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid), so no further displayconfig changes are currently being considered, even if this was still a bug. ** Changed in: kdebase (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- Video settings get messed

gnome-power-manager does not touch xorg.conf. It sounds like an issue with the KDE X configuration tool, not gnome-power-manager - especially since it's a Kubuntu install. -- Video settings get messed up after using GUI to disable power management. https://launchpad.net/bugs/76286 -- ubuntu-bug

There is a definite difference in the device and monitor section. My best guess is that this is a bug in gnome-power-manager. However, it might help the GNOME developers to submit a bug on their bug tracker at: (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/). Also, there are a couple of models of the ATI rage. See:

I believe that the video card is detected correctly as "ATI Technologies, Inc. 3D Rage Pro". I'm attaching the "good" xorg.conf file to this message. I will submit the one more message with the GUI updated xorg.conf (after I disable power management). ** Attachment added: "Video works correctly w/

Thanks for the report. Which kind of graphics card do you have? Can you also attach your xorg file? This is important to make sure there is not a mis-configured xorg.conf file. ** Changed in: Ubuntu Status: Unconfirmed => Needs Info -- Video settings get messed up after using GUI to disab
