getting this driver to do SPDIF/IN to 5.1 surround out would be awesome.
I'm using the soundcard as a driver for a cheap analog 5.1 speaker set
on a ZOTAC box with Ubuntu 11.10 on it, and being able to decode XBOX
and BluRay surround sound would save me another €80 for a conversion
device.

Do you have any ideas how to eanble native spdif-in=line-out loopback?
arecord|aplay gave noticable delays.
In windows listen to this device option works like a charm without any
delays (on hardware level?)

one more important thing. soundcard has a button (RECORD). And It has to be
pressed when used for SPDIF/IN. Because if its not on we get output like:
