It does not work for me too...
Ubuntu: 14.04
Thunderbird: 31.3.0
Lightning: 3.3.1
I have just created a new calendar in google, but it is not accesible
from thunderbird... Only readonly ics access works...
If I configure it for rw with the xml url (not ics) it fails during
authentication.

Google Calendars broke for me a few weeks ago. Thunderbird/Lightening
kept prompting over and over for my password.
My fix was to convert all my calendar links to CalDAV and dispense with
the Google Calendar settings in Lightning.
To use CalDAV, logon to Google web and fetch the Calendar ID
quote 'Fixed with newer versions.'
It's now happening to me, used to have no problems for more than a year, now it
doesn't work anymore.
I cannot access and I'm 200% sure I'm giving the right data (emailaddress and
password)
Can't figure it out
Ubuntu 14.10, Thunderbird 31.2.0

I tried to delete and recreate the calendar but after I am asked to type
in the login credentials I get the same problem where the login prompt
just pops up again and again.

There are two ways to do it:
