Confirmed that my Panda has broken USB. Marking bug invalid as this bug
doesn't appear on other pandas.

@Michael -- if you update to the version in Natty does that sort you
out? I suspect you will then hit the issue Paolo talks about. If
things are better will sort out getting this kernel rolled forward.

in natty/ti-omap4 the lan is built-in:
[flag@newluxor ubuntu-natty]$ grep SMSC95XX debian/build/build-omap4/.config
CONFIG_USB_NET_SMSC95XX=y
so you should get the NIC by default.
are you perhaps using gcc 4.6? unfortunately, it seems it kills usb*
even on omap4 (see also
and i can confirm you that we hit the same bug as lp#791552 on omap4,
both with native and cross compilation.
