Thanks Steve for making us aware of that old MIR.
In fact vblade is on its way to be demoted and going out of main.
Yes it is still in main, but the upload of 22-1ubuntu1 was not only to merge
but also to prepare it to become a sync package later on and with that change
it should be demoted too.
I think this MIR was originally filed for a previous iteration of the
package, and the submitter (Chuck) is no longer responsible for the
state of this package. Assigning to Robie (the uploader of the version
(re?)introducing the recommends, and subscribing the ubuntu server team.

Haha, indeed. I hadn't even looked at what runit was yet. Runit-
assumptions do unfortunately seem to be embedded into how this package
works.

vblade-persist depends on runit, which is not appropriate to include in
main and will not be supported by the Foundations team. If the
functionality of this package is required in main, it should be ported
to systemd.

Marking Fix Committed then, but you should file a MIR for runit too.

Well coded and coded defensively with good input validation.
verify_interface() could be better in the face of no ip and no ifconfig,
but we always have those, so no biggie. Would be nice if it used 'set
-e' in /usr/sbin/vblade-persist, but I don't see anything that is wrong.
Feel free to promote,

Approved from a packaging/maintainability perspective. Though it would
be nice to see a bug subscriber.
Assigning to ubuntu-security for a quick pass. I'm not familiar with
this protocol, and this package is creating /dev symlinks, so I want to
be sure there aren't any concerns.
