I am no longer experiencing this problem. I did a BIOS upgrade, which really helped, and disabled power management. -- system becomes unresponsive over the day https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/80263 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to

I'm having the same problem; however, my system becomes unresponsive irrespective of what I'm running. If I leave it idle for more than a day, even if there are no users logged in, the system is unresponsive once I return. I'm pretty sure this is a 2.6 kernel issue, as I had this problem when

I've managed to make a ps aux and a top when this was happening. I don't see anything suspicious, no process with high cpu usage, but superkaramba showed 100% cpu usage. I had to log out and back in to get the computer working normally again. (see attachment) ** Attachment added: output of ps

You can see in the above attachment that xmms is using over 65% of memory. Usually it uses below 2%. But I wouldn't blame xmms at this point, because it happens with other apps too. -- system becomes unresponsive over the day https://launchpad.net/bugs/80263 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list

Tested it on Gentoo (2.6.16-gentoo-r9) on a 2-proc P4 3GHz with 2G ram and no swap, but could not reproduce it. This is while running xmms, konqueror, firefox, open office, and a bunch of xterms. CPU load did not go over 0.5. Offhand, this sounds a lot like a memory leak in one of the

I found another way to reproduce this bug: Open the attached .pdf file, and *try* to zoom into 300% (I use kdpf, but I guess it can be any program). When going over 200%, the mouse starts lagging, zooming further stops xmms from playing music, and the system becomes completely unresponsive. This
