I have version 0.57.11ubuntu12.1 of Synaptic, I think it's the one you
are talking about because I have the edgy-proposed repository activated,
the package list up to date and no updates pending. My issue is not
fixed.

Unfortunately I am not sure that these 2 bug reports are identifying the
same issue, after my review.
I have since upgraded to synaptic

Can you please install the synaptic version from edgy-proposed and let
me know if that fixes the issue for you?
