Good point. But there is an objection: how could you determinate that
the search is an expaneded one and not a completely new one? Or should
we generally not change the once selected sorting?

Yes, I think that once chosen sort order shouldn't be changed at all.
If user prefers installing popular applications, he'd be happy to select
descending popularity sorting once and always see popular apps in first
lines. Keeping state is just organic.
