This is reported against an old version of Ubuntu and many things has
changed since then. Because of that we won't fix this issue however if
this behavior repeats on a modern version please fill a bug report
against it and we will take it from there.

With oneiric, it turns out that the headset does actually work:
by default it's using the mode Telephony Duplex (HSP/HFP) - which is not
working.
If I change that mode to High Fidelity Playback (A2DP), then the sound comes
out as expected.
