Well I still have the problem of needing to hold the Super key for at
least (about) 1 second, to prevent the dash flashing quickly and
disappearing.
If that is the desired behaviour then I would agree we should close the
report.

Actually that's wrong - I needed to do a sudo apt-get dist-upgrade,
and after doing that the problem is almost solved! (by the way, how
can I find out and report what version of unity I'm running now?)
Super + A (or Super + F) does actually work now, but I have to make sure
I hold the Super key
Waldo, can you try with the most recent version of Unity 2D available from the
daily PPA at:
https://launchpad.net/~unity-2d-team/+archive/unity-2d-daily
