I am having a similar issue. The CD disc is constantly spinning while
playing music off the CD. However, when I listen to music off the CD on
Grip, this issue does not occur. The cd is spinning, but it silent.

Thank you for your bug. Your problem is not clear, is that about your CD
drive vibrating when reading a CD? That doesn't look like a software bug

Yes, this is more a wishlist item than a bug report.
I'd like to have rhythmbox make the cd drive not spin with the standard
maximum speed, but instead slow it down so far that playback is still
possible, but the cd drive is much less noisy with respect to mechanical
vibrations, air flow noise
does it happen with gnome-cd or sound-juicer or other applications by
example?
