Sorry I cannot install the dev release nor can I test the latest
upstream kernel at the moment but since I opend the bug report I found a
better solution posted by someone else in a different bug report.
Here are all the details: http://patchlog.com/linux/better-fix-for-
inspiron-n7110-touchpad/
Mihai Secasiu, could you please test for the problem in a Live CD
environment of the development release?

Title:
Inspiron N7110, ALPS touchpad
Mihai Secasiu, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/
** Description changed:
- The touchpad is working but it's recognized as a simple mouse. This means I
can't use syndaemon to disable it automatically while typing.

Inspiron N7110, ALPS touchpad not recognized as touchpad
To manage
I managed to make syndaemon work with it ( with any mouse actually ). It's not
a fix for the actual bug but it partially solves the problem with typing.
Anyone interested in this can find the patch and details here:
