This issue goes away on a clean install, it only appears on an upgrade
install. Installing gnome-tweak-tool and resetting font settings also works!

I'm not sure if this is the correct bug to be adding to, but I just
upgraded to Oneiric today and any fonts involved in Unity are horribly
hinted. They have very jagged edges, whereas the rest of my desktop is
configured with ~/.fonts.conf to have no hinting and is behaving
correctly.
