The dim screen brightness when idle and [alredy] on battery works on
my system but I'm leving this bug incomplete since the original reporter
hasn't yet commented and there seems to be some HW specific issues with
the screen brightness functions ( see for example bug 844241 and bug
810093).

I've just updated bug 844241, because I've seen that it does not depend on 'Dim
screen to save power': simply the backlight is not restored when I move the
mouse...

Could someone please explain the meaning/purpose of 'Dim screen to save
power'? This bug's reporter says that it doesn't have any effect on
screen dimming when on idle and on battery. I can also confirm this
behaviour. However, in bug 844241, the screen is dimmed but isn't
restored on activity but
