Same problem here.
I have checked installing the debian wheezy package (version 1.3.2-3.1) on my
Ubuntu oneiric and the menu is visible.

I think more than the application itself, the problems with the
incompatibility of the two interfaces gnome and unity should be
dealt with. There does not appear any attempt in that direction.
