Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linuxsampler
Per Debian Bug #328121 (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=328121), the package is unfree (because it disallows commercial distribution), but Debian and Ubuntu don't report this. Specifically, http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/universe/l/linuxsampler/linuxsampler_0.3.2.99+0.3.3-cvs-0ubuntu1/linuxsampler.copyright says "This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation; either version 2 of the License, or (at your option) any later version." but the actual README in the upstream distribution says "This software is distributed under the GNU General Public License (see COPYING file), and may not be used in commercial applications without asking the authors for permission." Even if this still qualifies for universe (I don't think it should), this limit should be included in the package copyright info. Thanks to gNewSense (http://www.gnewsense.org/Universe/Universe) for pointing this out. ** Affects: linuxsampler (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed ** Affects: linuxsampler (Debian) Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #328121 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=328121 ** Also affects: linuxsampler (Debian) via http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=328121 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- Linuxsampler is unfree, and this is reported incorrectly https://launchpad.net/bugs/84451 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
