Markus:
Your suggestion is effectively covered by Bug #91064 . I also have a sneaking
suspicion you can use the 96xx drivers (now called just nvidia-glx) for your
geforce4 (see
http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/1.0-9755/README/appendix-a.html
). Make sure you are fully up to date
I have had the exact same problem. I have a "nVidia Corporation NV17
[GeForce4 440 Go]" and so I have to use nvidia-glx-legacy.
Digging around in the Xorg.0.log I found this:
(EE) GLX is not supported with the Composite extension
So I added this section to my xorg.conf:
Section "Extensions"
thats what it did to me. i ended up removing all the nvidia stuff
through aptitude and reinstalling nvidia-glx-legacy and it appears to be
working it seemed like it was there from default, but not enabled, and
somewhere in the updates and whatnot, it got buggered up.. all seems to
be well after
I have the same problem, using a geforce 256 (nv10) AGP card.
I have the nvidia-glx-legacy driver installed and the "glx" module
configured to load in my xorg.conf.
I'm about to re-run nvidia-xconfig in the hope that it will fix this but I
don't know what nvidia-xconfig is suppos
You may want to run "sudo nvidia-xconfig" to ensure that the GLX
extension is in xorg.conf Then restart X.
If this doesn't fix it then "sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf" and ensure
that
Load "glx"
Is inside Section "Module".
