Public bug reported:

When a new tab in a gnome-terminal window is opened, the vertical scroll
bars in both the tabs disappear. Also there is a transparent region in
the bottom of the window that is created, that hides the current prompt
and cursor. Screenshot of the normal terminal with one tab and the
abnormal one with 2 tabs attached.P
